Metallurgic and Environmental Processes
Numerous projects deal with metallurgical processes and their environment. Numerical simulations of flow, heat transfer, chemical reactions (hot metal desulfurization), combustion reactions, multiphase-flows (gas-stirred steel flows, non-metallic inclusion flotation in liquid steel, dust particles in air), magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) effects and solidifcation are modelled in steel plant devices like converter, ladle, tundish and moulds (especially continuous casting) are performed.  Mould
The flow in water models of steelmaking devices is measured via PIV-measurements. Dedusting systems in steel plants, including post combustion, are modeled.

Also later states in steel processing as for instance the optimisation of the design of pickling tanks are modeled (free surface flow, chemical reactions).
